Many celebrities owned BMW 507s, but the most famous owner was Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ‘n Roll himself. Presley bought his 507 while stationed in Germany during WWII. After owning it, the car's history is checkered at best and hard to follow.
In 1968 a man named Jack Castor bought it and kept it in a garage until a man by the name of Jackie Jouret found it in Castor’s barn. Now, Presley’s BMW 507 is in the hands of BMW’s Classic Group, who has been restoring it. The car's restoration is now complete but this was not an easy task. Still, it is hard to explain that there was a Chevy V8 under the hood. It's clear, that it required replacing, so there was a need to build an entirely new V8. Now the car looks more than gorgeous. We guess that it is impossible to dislike its perfect proportions.
The restoration group had to remove eight paint jobs the car received over its lifetime. One of those resprays was commissioned by Elvis Presley himself. The BMW 507 was originally white when it was raced by Hans Stuck. After Elvis purchased it, he decided to paint it red to help hide lipstick and messages left by fans. The interior also needed restoration. The car was restored back to its original condition, coming back to its original white paint. The legend is scheduled to make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 21.
